Frequently Asked Questions

A doula is a trained professional who provides continuous emotional, physical, and informational support throughout pregnancy, birth, and/or the postpartum period.
But to me, being a doula is about more than knowing what to do. It’s about being someone you can count on when you have questions, need encouragement, or simply want someone beside you who understands what you’re going through.
I’m not there to make decisions for you or replace your medical team. I’m there to help you understand your options, prepare for the experience ahead, and support you in the choices that feel right for you.
Whether that means helping you find a comfortable position during labor, encouraging your partner, answering questions during the early days with your baby, or simply reminding you that you’re doing better than you think!

Absolutely not! In fact, Mountain Mama Doula offers a partner preparation class because I believe that partners should have tools to be there to support you if that is what you both want. My own husband was irreplaceable in all 4 of my births and I want you to feel the same about yours. If you have a partner, I want to come along side them so we can both offer you the best support!

I am trained through DONA International for both birth and postpartum doula work.

My own journey into birth work has shaped the way I support families. I know how important it is to feel heard, informed, and confident when you’re preparing to bring a baby into the world and how easy it can be to wonder if you’re really prepared for everything that comes with it.
I believe you already have more strength and capability than you may realize. My role isn’t to push an agenda or tell you how your birth should look. It’s to walk beside you, listen to what matters to you, help you understand your options, and provide steady, compassionate support along the way.
More than anything, I want to help you discover confidence in your own ability, not only to bring your baby into the world, but to care for and trust yourself as you step into parenthood.

Honestly? I want it to feel like you have a friend in your corner who happens to know a lot about birth and babies.
I want you to feel comfortable asking the questions you’re almost embarrassed to ask, talking through the things that make you nervous, and being completely honest about what you want. I’ll listen without judgment, help you sort through your options, and give you the tools and information to make decisions with confidence.
I’ll celebrate the exciting moments, help steady you through the hard ones, and remind you of what you’re capable of when you need it.
You don’t have to have it all figured out before we start. We’ll take it one step at a time, together.
